This photo represents Tutankhamun or Tutankhamen (/ˌtuːtənkɑːˈmuːn/ /ˌtuːtənˈkɑːmɛn/; Ancient Egyptian: twt-ꜥnḫ-jmn; c. 1341 BC – 1323 BC), also referred to as King Tut, was an Egyptian pharaoh. Having ruled over the New Kingdom of Egypt, he was the last of his royal family to exercise governance during the Eighteenth Dynasty, with his reign lasting from c. 1332 BC until c. 1323 BC in the conventional Egyptian chronology. Historically, Tutankhamun is primarily known for restoring the traditional ancient Egyptian religion after a preceding pharaoh, Akhenaten, had supplanted it with the Atenism religion. In popular culture, he is known for his vastly opulent wealth found during the 1922 discovery of his tomb, the only such tomb to date to have been found in near-intact condition. The discovery of his tomb is widely considered one of the greatest archaeological discoveries of all time.
